Organizata për lirinë e medias Reporterët pa Kufij (RSF) kritikoi kryeministrin Rama për sulmet e vazhdueshme ndaj medias gjatë krizës së koronavirusit.
Në një deklaratë për shtyp, RSF dha shembuj të sulmeve të ndryshëm ndaj gazetarëve, punonjësve të mediave dhe lirisë së shprehjes gjatë pandemisë. Ndër deklaratat kryesore të liderëve që cenojnë lirinë e medias, u përmend mesazhi audio i regjistruar i Ramës.
Në fillim të krizës COVID-19 në Shqipëri, Edi Rama përdori kompaninë Vodafone Albania për të vendosur një mesazh të regjistruar paraprakisht në celularin e të gjithëve. Mesazhi dëgjohej para se të bëhej ndonjë telefonatë dalëse. Në të, Rama këshillonte qytetarët të ruajnë higjenën dhe të mbroheshin nga media.
Mesazhi i Ramës për përdoruesit e Vodafone, rrjeti më popullor i telefonisë në vend, ishte:
Laj duart, mos lëviz nga shtëpia për qef, hap dritaret sa të mundesh dhe ruaju nga media.
Përdoruesit e kompanisë tjetër telefonike, Telekom Albania morën një mesazh pak më të ndryshëm, duke u kërkuar atyre që të mbroheshin nga informacioni i rremë. Rama njihet për marrëdhenien jo miqësore me median.
Gjatë dy viteve të fundit ai i ka quajtur gazetarët budallenj, analfabetë, shkelës të të drejtave të njeriut, prostituta, qen, injorantë dhe parazitë.
Qeveria e tij gjithashtu miratoi një ligjqë vendos të gjitha platformat e mediave online de fakto nën kontrollin e tij. Sulmi i tij ndaj mediave ka ardhur si pasojë të këmbënguljes së tyre në zbulimin e korrupsionit, keqpërdorimit të fondeve publike, blerjes së votave dhe skandaleve të koncesioneve që përfshinë atë dhe qeverinë e tij.
Shkelje të tjera të lirisë së shtypit të detajuara në njoftimin për shtyp përfshijnë arrestimin dhe ndalimin e gazetares serbe Ana Lalic. Apartamenti i saj u bastis dhe telefoni i saj celular dhe kompjuteri u sekuestruan pasi ajo publikoi një artikull që përshkruante problemet dhe kushtet e këqija në një spital lokal ku trajtohen pacientët me koronavirusit.
Sipas RSF, kjo së bashku me shembujt e tjerë, të përfshirë në deklaratë, është një tjetër “ilustrim i zymtë i faktit që ndërsa gazetarët kontribuojnë në luftën kundër COVID-19, ata bëhen vetë viktima të sulmeve nga armiq të ndryshëm të lirisë së shtypit përfshirë, për fat të keq, edhe vetë qeveritë të cilët përfitojnë nga situata për të përndjekur kritikët e tyre.
Shqipëria aktualisht renditet në vendin e 82 në Indeksin Botëror të Lirisë së Shtypit, hartuar nga RSF në vitin 2019 Ju mund të shihni një listë të sulmeve ndaj gazetarëve në vitin 2019 këtu, dhe një listë të fyerjeve të përdorura nga Rama kundër mediave që nga viti 2018
