Ka ndërruar jetë në moshën 90 vjeçare në shtetin Italian, një nga mjeket e njohur shkodran, doktor Agostin Dema. Goditja nga Covid 19 i mori jetën, pikërisht në një periudhe kur as familja nuk mundet t’i japë lamtumirën e fundit, mjekut që në jetën e tij i dha shumë qytetit të Shkodres, e më vonë edhe Italisë, duke kontribuar në fushën e mjekësisë.
I lindur në vitin 1930, Dema i përket plejadës së shquar të mjekëve të Shkodrës. Ai mbaroi studimet e larta në Universitetin e Tiranës, po aty edhe specializimin për endokrinologji. Në fillimet e tija si mjek shërbeu në Tiranë, përkrah mjekut të madh shkodran Frederik Shiroka, i cili ishte njëkohësisht edhe kushëriri i tij. Më pas u kthye në qytetin e lindjes dhe ishte ndër të parët mjekë që krijuan shërbimin e specializuar të endokrinologjisë në Spitalin e Shkodrës.
Ai ishte endokrinologu që për disa dekada shërbeu pa u lodhur në Spitalin dhe Poliambulancën e qytetit. Janë me mijëra pacientë me diabet, teroide e sëmundje të tjera hormonale, që kanë provuar humanizmin, profesionalizmin dhe përkushtimin e tij ndër vite edhe pas daljes në pension. Gjithashtu ai ishte i pari që organizoi kurset për infermier profesional në Shqipëri, pasi kishte kryer kursin për ndihmës mjek, si dhe njihet për hapjen edhe të repartit të diabetologjisë.
Agostin Dema ishte djali i madh i të ndjerit Kolë Dema, arsimtarit të karrierës, përkthyesit dhe autorit të disa veprave letrare, si: “Begatitë e Shqypnisë” dhe dramave “Konti i Drishtit” “I padituni për gjaksi” “Hasmi i dytë” etj.
Ai ishte gjithashtu, vëllai i të ndjerit Zef Dema të persekutuarit politik të denuar me vdekje e konvertuar me burgim të përjetshëm, që më pas vuajti 15 vite në burgjet e diktaturës komuniste. Profesionin e mjekut, ai arriti t’ja transmetonte edhe të birit, Eugen Dema, i cili është një mjek ortoped i njohur në Itali /RealitetiPost/
