Nga 2 mijë euro për person, që të dilnin të sigurt në brigjet italiane, iu paguan trafikantëve emigrantët klandestinë irakenë, iranianë e nga Kurdistani, të cilët u shpëtuan nga mbytja të shtunën e javës së shkuar.
Ata kishin ardhur në Shqipëri në rrugë tokësore, me synimin që të shkonim fillimisht në Itali, e më pas te të afërmit në perëndim. Klandestinët kanë rrëfyer ngjarjen për oficerët e policisë gjyqësore në Kavajë dhe kanë treguar se si u kontaktuan nga trafikantët, teksa kishin kohë që qëndronin në qendrën e pritjes në Tiranë.

Kemi udhëtuar të gjithë së bashku natën. Na kanë sjellë nga Tirana në Spille të Kavajës. Aty na thanë se duhet të hipnim në një skaf, qe do të na çonte në Itali. Fati ynë i keq që pasi ishim nisur me skaf mjeti u ça dhe ne rrezikuam të gjithë të mbyteshim. Por skafisti lajmëroi autoritetet dhe ata erdhën e na shpëtuan” kanë treguar ata.
Ndaj klandestinëve ka nisur hetimi për grup të strukturuar kriminal për trafikim të qenieve njerëzore. Ndërsa, skafisiti vlonjat i ndaluar nga policia, Roland Cenko, i cili pritet të dalë për masë sigurie si i vetmi i arrestuar deri tani nuk i ka ndihmuar hetuesit. Ai ka folur pak, duke thënë vetëm se thjesht i ka ndihmuar klandestinët për ti nxjerrë në Itali.
Policia ka faktuar se skafi u transportua me një mjet nga qyteti i Lushnjës në grykëderdhjen e Semanit dhe ka qenë një prej të kontraktuarve si i punësuar nga grupi i organizuar i nisjes së klandestinëve. 5 gra, 12 burra e 1 fëmijë u shpëtuan nga mbytja në një operacion të zhvilluar nga Guardia di Financa dhe Roja Bregdetare shqiptare në orët e para të mëngjesit të së shtunës, pasi për shkak të një defekti skafisti dha alarmin 18 milje larg nga Kepi i Selitës.
