15 milion euro është shumë që Bashkimi Europian do të financojë në kuadër të projekteve të përbashkëta IPA, mes Shqipërisë dhe Malit të Zi për të mundësuar lidhjen e këtyre dy shteteve me një tjetër pikë kufitare. Pas nënshkrimit të marrëveshjes mes dy qeverive, asaj shqiptare dhe malazeze për pikën kufitare Zogaj – Skje, pritet që së shpejti të përfundojë studimi e të nisë puna në terren fillimisht për rrugën Shirokë – Zogaj, ku parashikohet zgjerimi i saj dhe asfaktimi me standarte, e më pas hapja e kësaj dogane.

Rruga nga Shiroka në Zogaj megjithatë do të ketë specifikime që i japin një tjetër dimension zhvillimi zonës, por edhe të gjithë brigjeve të liqenit të Shkodres. Shkodraneës ka mësuar se plani i studimit që pritet të përmbyllet brenda një periudhe sa më të shkurtër, parashikon që në këtë gjatësi rruge të ketë ndërhyrje në prishje të ndërtimeve pa leje që kanë lulëzuar vitet e fundit, por edhe në tranzicionin e gjatë 30 vjecar.

Plani i zhvillimit të kësaj zone e ndalon në mënyrë kategorike çdo ndërtim poshtë rrugës në brigjet e liqenit, por aty për hir të së vërtetës ka qënë i përqëndruar volumi më i madh i ndërtimeve në këto vite. Shumica prej tyre, të paktën sipas një të dhëne paraprake në masën 85% janë pa leje dhe me rikonstruksionin e rrugës do të prishen.

Kualifikimi urban i Shirokës që do të pasohet me këtë investim do të mundësojë që përveç lidhjes me Malin e Zi ti japë kësaj zone një bum ekonomik e turistik, duke qënë se parashikohet një rritje me rreth 30% të numrit të vizitoreve ditor. Pas përmbylljes së ndërhyrjes do të mbetet për tu parë se sa do të jetë e aftë bashkia Shkoder të menaxhojë territorin që deri më sot e ka lënë fushë të lire, ku cdokush mund të veprojë sipas dëshires, duke mos pyetur për ligj e rregulla.
