Administrata e Presidentit Donald Trump publikoi të enjten rregulla të reja vizash që synojnë kufizimin e “turizmit të lindjeve” një praktikë me të cilën gratë vijnë në SHBA për të lindur, në mënyrë që fëmijët e tyre të marrin shtetësinë amerikane.

Aplikantëve do tu refuzohen vizat turistike nëse zyrtarët konsullorë përcaktojnë se ato synojnë të vijnë në SHBA kryesisht për të lindur, raporton VOA.

Por për zyrtarët do të jetë e vështirë të bëjnë dallimin nëse ato vijnë për shkaqe mjekësore apo për të lindur.

Gratë me nevoja mjekësore do të trajtohen si të huajt e tjerë që hyjnë në SHBA për trajtim mjekësor dhe duhet të dëshmojnë se i kanë paratë për të paguar, përfshirë shpenzimet e transportit dhe të jetesës.

Praktika e udhëtimit në SHBA për të lindur është në thelb e ligjshme, megjithëse ka patur raste që autoritetet kanë arrestuar operatorët e agjencive të turizmit të lindjeve për mashtrime me vizat ose evazion fiskal.

Në rregulloren e re thuhet se Departamenti i Shtetit “nuk beson që vizitat në Shtetet e Bashkuara me qëllim kryesor marrjen e nënshtetësisë amerikane për një fëmijë, duke lindur në Shtetet e Bashkuara, janë një veprimtari legjitime për kënaqësi ose e një natyre rekreative”

Administrata e Presidentit Donald Trump po i kufizon të gjitha format e imigracionit, por Presidenti Trump ka shprehur shqetësim të veçantë për çështjen e marrjes së nënshtetësisë me anë të lindjes. Sipas Kushtetutës amerikane, kushdo që ka lindur në SHBA konsiderohet shtetas amerikan.

Presidenti ka kërcënuar se do ti japë fund kësaj praktike, por studiuesit ligjorë kanë thënë se kjo nuk është aq e lehtë për tu realizuar.
