Kryetari i Gjykatës së Posaçme të Shkallës së Parë për Korrupsion dhe Krimin e Organizuar Sandër Simoni do të dalë në 14 janar para Komisionit të Pavarur të Kualifikimit, shkallës së parë së Vetingut, për tu njohur me rezultatet e verifikimit të trefishtë, konkretisht për ligjshmërinë e pasurive, pastërtinë e figurës dhe aftësisë profesionale.
Rivlerësimi i Simonit do të bëhet nga trupa gjykuese e përbërë nga Brunilda Bekteshi, Roland Ilia dhe Olsi Komici. Për kryegjyqtarin Simoni procesi i Vetingut ka nisur që muajin maji të vitit 2018, që do të thotë se verifikimet kanë zgjatur 19 muaj. Simoni më parë ka drejtuar Gjykatën e Shkallës së Parë të Krimeve të Rënda. Gjyqtari u emërua në këtë në krye të Krimeve të Rënda nga KLD-ja që në maji të 2004.
Gjykata u transformua në 18 dhjetor të 2009 në Gjykatën Speciale të Shkallës së Parë. Këshilli i Lartë Gjyqësor, i cili ka zëvendësuar KLD-në, vendosi që Simoni të drejtojë Gjykatën Speciale deri në zgjedhjen e kryetarit të ri. Gjykata e Posaçme e Shkallës së Parë për Korrupsion dhe Krimin e Organizuar ose siç duhet ndryshe Gjykata Speciale do të gjykojë dosjet që do t’i referojë Prokuroria e Posaçme për çdo akuzë penale ndaj pushtetarëve dhe ish-pushtetarëve shqiptar që nga vitet 90 e këtej, për grupet kriminale si dhe për çdo person që akuzohet për veprat penale të korrupsionit.
Ndërkaq, Sandër Simoni është një emër i njohur i drejtësisë shqiptare. Dy muaj më parë, në tetor të 2019, Sandër Simoni kryesoi trupin gjykues tek Krimet e Rënda, i cili dënoi gjyqtarin e Fierit Roland Hysi, me 4 vite e 6 muaj burg për korrupsion.
Ndërkaq, në gusht të vitit 2019, Simoni mbylli në burg Gentian Dodën, i ekstraduar nga Anglia dhe i akuzuar për korruptimin me 30 mijë euro të gjyqtarit të Apelit Tiranë, Shkëlqim Miri.
Simoni ka marrë pjesë edhe në procesin e ndëshkimit të një grupi të akuzuar nga Prokuroria për veprime terroriste, pjesë e Al-Nusra, një organizatë e klasifikuar si terroriste nga ana e OKB-së. Sa i takon pasurisë, Simoni deklaron vetëm pagën e tij si dhe të ardhurat e bashkëshortes nga puna si pjesë Departamentit të Ligjit dhe i të Drejtave të Njeriut, Prezenca e OSBE-së në Shqipëri, si dhe nga aktiviteti si notere publike. Simoni rezulton se ka marrë edhe një kredi shuma 5 milionë lekë, me afat 300 muaj, me normë e interesit 3.
