Kreu i Organizatës Botërore të Shëndetit ditën e sotme u ka bërë shteteve të vazhdojnë përpjekjet për të luftuar pandeminë globale Covid-19, e cila ka infektuar më shumë se 7 milionë njerëz dhe ende nuk ka arritur kulmin në Amerikën Qendrore.

“Më shumë se gjashtë muaj nga fillimi i pandemisë, nuk është ende koha për asnjë vend që të relaksohet” tha drejtori i Përgjithshëm i OBSH-së Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus në një konferencë online në internet.

Drejtori i OBSH-së për situata emergjente Mike Ryan tha se numri i të infektuarve në Amerikën Qendrore vazhdon të rritet.

”Unë mendoj se kjo është një kohë e shqetësimit të madh” tha ai, duke u kërkuar qeverive në rajon të veprojnë fuqishëm, me ndihmën ndërkombëtare.

SHBA deri mët tani ka numrin më të madh të të infektuarve në botë me 110.689 vdekje. Në vendin e dytë për sa i përket vdekjeve është Mbretëria e Bashkuar me 40.680 viktima dhe 288.827 të infektuar.

Në vendin e dytë në numrin e të infektuarve tani është Brazili me 691.758 konfirmuar dhe 36.455 vdekje. Në vendin e tretë sa i përket numrit të infektuar është Rusia me 476.043 dhe 5.963 vdekje.
