Komisioneri Europian: Zgjerimi i BE-së me vendet e Ballkanit Perëndimor është prioritet

Ashtu siç pritej, Komisioneri europian i zgjerimit Olivér Várhelyi prezantoi në Bruksel propozimin për të çuar përpara procesin e zgjerimit të BE-së. Në fjalën e tij, Várhelyi e bëri të qartë se zgjerimi i BE së me vendet e Ballkanit Perëndimor është prioritet i krahut ekzekutiv të bllokut

Ne jemi duke punuar në tre pista Së pari, ne jemi duke propozuar hapat konkretë sesi mund të përmirësohet procesi i pranimit. Po ndërsa po hidhen hapa drejt forcimit dhe përmirësimit të procesit, qëllimi kryesor mbetet anëtarësimi i plotë në BE. Së dyti dhe paralelisht Komisioni i qëndron deri në fund rekomandimeve të tij për çeljen e negocjatave të pranimit të Maqedonisë së Veriut dhe Shqipërinë dhe shumë shpejt, do të sigurojë një përditësim mbi përparimin e bërë prej të dy këtyre vendeve. Së treti, në përgatitjen e Samitit BE Ballkan Perëndimor në Zagreb në maj, Komisioni do të paraqesë një plan zhvillimi ekonomik dhe investimesh për rajonin tha ai

Ursula von der Leyen reagoi menjëherë në Twitter duke e përshkruar këtë si një mesazh të mirë për miqtë e Ballkanit Perëndimor. Sot Komisioni Europian propozoi një plan të besueshëm dhe dinamik që i çel rrugës hapjes së negociatave të anëtarësimit me Maqedoninë e Veriut dhe Shqipërinë. Zgjerimi i BE-së është një situatë nga e cila fitojnë të gjithë , ka shkruar shefja e KE se. Propozimi i komisionit, siç u tha dhe në Bruksel, merr parasysh qëndrimet e shteteve anëtare dhe interesat gjeostrategjike të BE , por edhe interesat e vendeve që duan të hynë në bllokun europian

Komisioneri Varhelyi sqaroi se metodologjia e re do të bazohet në katër parime: kredibiliteti, parashikueshmëria, dinamika dhe forcimi i udhëheqjes politike. Fokusi i saj përqëndrohet tek forcimi i shtetit juridik, forcimi i institucioneve demokratike dhe zhvillimi ekonomik. Në Bruksel shpresohet, se në samitin e majit në Zagreb do të hapen negociatat edhe me Shqipërinë dhe Maqedoninë e Veriut dhe se kjo do të rezultojë me një hov të ri për zgjerimin e BE
