Ministrja e Brendshme Italiane ka publikuar raportin për gjashtë mujorin e parë për kriminalitetin për vitin 2019. Në raport theksohet se Shqipëria është mes vendeve me prodhimin më të lartë të kanabisit, pavarësisht planit kombëtar anti-kanabis me mbështetjen edhe të Romës zyrtare.
Vendi jonë përcaktohet edhe si vend tranzit për trafikun e heroinës nga Afganistani në Europë. Grupet kriminale shqiptare, vijon më tej raporti, kanë bashkëpunim me mafien italiane, Camorra dhe Ndrangheta. Por kriminaliteti shqiptar shtrihet edhe më tej me bashkëpunimin me grupet nga Amerika Latine për kokainën, Holanda, Belgjika, Anglia dhe vende të tjera.

Në Itali prania e tyre është e përhapur në pjesën më të madhe të territorit, me përqendrim më të madh në Veri dhe Puglia në Jug.
Ata veprojnë në grupe në bazë të lidhjeve familjare dhe fisnore. Gjithashtu shqiptarët bashkëpunojnë me anëtarë të kombësive të tjera. Shqiptarët kanë krijuar edhe një rrjet të trafikut nga Amerika Latine. Jo vetëm në trafikun e drogës, por shqiptarët veprojnë edhe në prostitucion, emigracioni i paligjshëm dhe grabitje” thuhet ndër të tjera në raportin e Ministrisë së Brendshme të Italisë.
