Ardi Veliu sot drejton Policinë Shqiptare, por në mendjen e tij vështirë se mund të harrohet një prej ngjarjeve më të rënda të 16 viteve më parë. Bëhet fjalë për tragjedinë e 9 janarit të vitit 2004 në Vlorë, kur një gomone me 35 persona në bord u mbyt në det dhe për pasojë 28 persona humbën jetën.

Por, tragjedia edhe mund të shmangej, nëse Policia do kishte vepruar menjëherë. Sepse, personat në rrezik për jetën mundën të japin alarmin SOS në Top Channel duke dashur të sensibilizojnë ndërhyrjen e menjëhershme të Policisë.

Por, policia e Vlorës, ku shef rendi në atë kohë ishte Ardi Veliu, sot kreu i policisë shqiptare nuk veproi menjëherë për shkak se në jo pak raste trafikantët kishin bërë lëmsh organet e rendit me informacione të rreme. E gjithë kjo për të shkëputur vëmendjen e strukturave ligjzbatuese dhe trafikantët të vepronin lirisht në korridoret e drogës.

Në dëshmitë e tyre dëshmitarët VIP, kanë paraqitur përpara prokurorëve një sërë veprimesh, masash dhe reagimesh institucionale dhe një mobilizim në kohë të strukturave të larta, për të përballur situatën, duke u bazuar në veprimet e tyre në veprimet, mbledhjet,analizat, kontaktet, takimet, urdhrat, udhëzimet dhe komunikimet për situatën.
